The power of the Internet
The internet is such a part of our lives nowadays that few recall what life was like without it.
It almost replaced paper in some fields. Although there is a difference of use according to your age, the internet trivializes and becomes more and more present in every aspect of our lives.
At any moment, you can access to an unlimited amount of information, you can chat with anyone, buy stuff or play with people across the world.
Even if the internet is a place of freedom, opened for everybody, there is some rules and sanctions that everybody should be aware of.
Sadly enough few of the internet users really know what will happen to them if they violate those rules.
Safety first
A firewall is a system protecting your computer from unauthorized intrusions coming from another party through the internet.
It filters the information's packages you exchange with the network.
You can see on the following diagram the red arrows represent the packages denied and in green the ones the firewall let go through.
Although it is not an absolute defense, it will protect you from classics attacks, like stealing your information or damaging your operating system.
